HOMER, N.Y. — A Madison County man was charged with driving while intoxicated after traveling the wrong way on Interstate 81 in Cortland County on Friday, according to New York State Police.
Shortly before 8 p.m., police received a 911 report of a vehicle being driven southbound in the northbound lane of I-81 in the town of Homer.
The driver was identified as Anthony H. Romano, 58, of Chittenango, N.Y.

Romano was arrested and charged with misdemeanors of driving while intoxicated with a B.A.C. result of .09%, reckless driving and several other traffic violations.
He was ordered to appear in Homer Town Court on July 12.
