ITHACA, N.Y. – A man pleaded guilty to raping a person less than 17-years-old and sex abuse last week in Tompkins County Court.
David A. Reap, 21, accepted a 6-month jail term and 10 years of probation after pleading guilty to second-degree rape and first-degree sex abuse. The plea also covered a charge for endangering the welfare of a child and attempted first-degree rape.
According to court documents, in the summer of 2015, Reap engaged in sexual intercourse with a person less than 15-years-old and, for the abuse charge, had sexual contact through forcible compulsion with a person less than 17 years old.
The plea also requires him to register as a sex offender and undergo sex offender treatment.
He's scheduled to be sentenced in July. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Alyxandra Stanczak and Reap's defense attorney was Jane Murphy.
