Police: Man stole vehicle, crashed into utility pole in Preble

PREBLE, N.Y. — An East Syracuse man was arrested Wednesday after he crashed into a utility pole in a vehicle that had been reported stolen, New York State Police said.

At about 12:36 p.m. Wednesday, state police in Homer responded to a one-vehicle property damage crash on State Route 281 in the town of Preble.

An investigation determined that Brandon Orzan, 26, was driving while impaired by drugs when he crashed into a utility pole and snapped it, police said.

The investigation also revealed that the 2003 Lincoln Town Car that he had been driving had been reported stolen in Onondaga County.

Orzan was charged with a misdemeanor of operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs and other traffic violations. He will be facing additional charges for the alleged car theft, according to the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office.

He was arraigned in Preble Town Court and taken to Cortland County jail on $500 bail.
