Cortland weather: hot and humid Monday, cooler by midweek

Fans of this summer's heat wave will be pleased to hear that the average daily temperature will stay above 80 degrees this week in Cortland County.

Monday will be hot and humid, with a threat for severe weather in the afternoon and early evening as a cold front pushes across the area, according to the National Weather Service. These storms could create damaging winds and heavy downpours, with the potential for large hail.

Cooler, drier conditions will prevail Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs in the mid 80’s.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible by Thursday evening and into the weekend as more unsettled conditions arrive in central New York. Highs on Thursday will be in the 80’s to near 90 degrees.
