Public invited to comment on Route 221 bridge replacement project

HARFORD, N.Y. — The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) will hold an open house meeting on Tuesday, August 23, 2016, regarding a bridge replacement project on Route 221 over the Owego Creek Tributary East Branch, in the town of Harford, Cortland County.

The open house will take place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Harford Town Hall, located at 394 Route 38 in the town of Harford, New York.

At the meeting, drawings for the bridge replacement project will be available for review and representatives from NYSDOT will be present to answer questions.  No formal presentation is planned.

The preferred alternative for the project replaces the existing bridge while maintaining traffic on site using a temporary diversion.  Alternating traffic during construction will be accommodated on a single lane utilizing a temporary signal.  The new structure will match the approach highway width and will accommodate pedestrians.

This alternative will update signing and drainage within the project limits.

This open house is part of the continuing effort by the Department to encourage public participation in the development of transportation projects.

The Harford Town Hall is accessible to people with disabilities.  Please contact Janet Dziergas, P.E. at (315) 428-4343 if a sign language interpreter, assisted listening system, or other accommodation will be required to facilitate your participation in the open house.
