CORTLAND, N.Y. — A Syracuse man faces a slew of charges after leading troopers on a chase on Interstate 81 in Cortland and Onondaga counties Monday night.

At around 6 p.m. Monday, state police attempted to stop a 2004 Ford Explorer on I-81 in Cortlandville.

The driver, later identified as Nigel I. David, 28, refused to pull over and led troopers on a chase into Onondaga County, according to police.

While traveling on I-81 Northbound in Lafayette, David's vehicle struck a 2016 Subaru Legacy operated by Kayla McChristy, who was not injured in the collision.

David continued north on I-81 and exited off Brighton Avenue in the city of Syracuse. He pulled into a gas station on Salina Street and attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended after a short chase.

David was arraigned Tuesday morning in Syracuse City Court. He faces a multitude of misdemeanor charges including criminal possession of stolen property, reckless endangerment, unlawfully fleeing a police officer, government obstruction, reckless driving and several vehicle and traffic violations.
