CORTLAND, N.Y. — A Groton woman is accused of stealing more than $8,000 from the residents of an assisted living home in the city of Cortland.

Meghann White, 36, of Groton, was arrested Tuesday and charged with felony grand larceny, identify theft and one count of scheme to defraud, according to the Cortland Police Department.

According to police, White used identification information from several residents to make purchases for herself while she was working as a manager at the Friendship House at 13 Leon Street.

White would also collect rent money from residents and keep it for herself, according to Lt. Richard Troyer with the Cortland Police Department.

She was arraigned Tuesday in Cortland City Court and sent to the Cortland County Jail on $1,200 cash bail. White has already posted bail, Lt. Troyer said, adding that more charges are pending in the case.
