Homer man charged in domestic incident

HOMER, N.Y. — Police have charged a Homer man with felony criminal possession of a weapon after he allegedly assaulted a woman with a knife.

At around 8 p.m. Tuesday, Homer police responded to 46 James St for a reported domestic incident involving a weapon. The Cortland County Sheriff's Office and New York State Police also responded to the scene.

The female victim told officers that she was menaced with a knife and physically assaulted by 28-year-old Vance A. Dixon. TLC Ambulance was called to the home to treat the female victim for an arm injury but she refused to be transported to the hospital, police said.

A 4-year-old child was present during the altercation. Dixon was taken into custody at the scene without incident.

Dixon is charged with felony criminal possession of a weapon and misdemeanors of menacing, assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

He was arraigned in Homer Town Court and taken to Cortland County Jail on $3,000 cash bail or $6,000 bond.
