BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — A Cortland County man was killed in a crash involving three tractor trailers on Interstate 81 Wednesday morning, according to the Binghamton Police Department.
Phillip J. Miller, 26, of Homer, was driving a tractor trailer for Venice Enterprises, his employer, police said in a news release.
The crash happened on I-81/Route 17 in Binghamton at around 9 a.m. Wednesday. An official with the Binghamton Fire Department told WBNG-TV that the driver a tractor trailer came to a stop on the highway, causing the driver of the second tractor trailer, Miller, to rear end him. The driver of a third tractor then crashed into the trailer Miller was operating, an official said.
Interstate 81 was closed for several hours Wednesday morning following the crash.
