Dryden: Woman airlifted to hospital after car hits lawnmower towing small trailer

DRYDEN, N.Y. — A woman was airlifted to a regional trauma center after the trailer she was traveling in was struck by a vehicle the town of Dryden Thursday evening, according to the Tompkins County Sheriff's Office.

At about 7:39 p.m., deputies responded to the 300 block of Etna Road in Dryden for a vehicle and lawn mower collision.

An investigation found that a man was driving a Huskee Lawn Mower towing a small trailer on Etna Road when the lawn mower was struck by a black Chevy Impala. The woman was traveling in the trailer in a seated position.

The driver failed to see the mower and collided with it, the sheriff's office said.

The trailer did not have proper lighting or reflective markings as required by New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law, authorities said.

The driver of the mower was identified as David E. Judson, 29, of Dryden. The driver of the Impala was identified as Sharon A. Sims, 73, also of Dryden.

The identify of the trailer occupant is being withheld at this time, as she was airlifted to a regional trauma center, deputies said.
