Two injured in Cortlandville crash

CORTLANDVILLE, N.Y. — A Marathon man was ticketed for following too closely for his role in a four-car accident in the town of Cortlandville Wednesday night.

At around 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to Route 11 in front of the Night Owls bar for a reported motor vehicle crash. Multiple vehicles were still in the roadway and had suffered severe damage when officers arrived, according to Capt. Rob Derksen with the sheriff's office.

The accident occurred when the driver of a vehicle was attempting to make a left-hand turn into the Night Owls parking lot, with three other cars stopped behind him. A driver crested the hill and collided with one of the vehicles, causing a collision with the other stopped vehicles, the sheriff's office said.

The drivers of two of the vehicles were transported to Cortland Regional Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.

Kurtis R. Yale, 20, of Marathon, was ticketed for following too closely. He's scheduled to appear in Cortlandville Town Court later this month.
