Cortland County Sheriff's Office investigating reports of missing dogs

CORTLAND, N.Y. — The Cortland County Sheriff's Office is investigating two separate reports of missing dogs in the county.

The first incident occurred at around 2 p.m. on Sep. 9 in the area of 2272 Route 11 in Virgil.

An early 2000s white Chevrolet van in poor condition with New York State license plates was seen in the area when the dog went missing. The driver was described as heavy set, 6'1" in height and having medium black hair. The driver was seen exiting the vehicle briefly before driving away.

The dog is described as a tri-colored, 3-year-old male beagle with a black back, white chest and wearing a blue collar.

The second incident occurred on Sep. 27 near the area of 1912 McGraw Marathon Road in the town of Freetown.

The dog is described as a 2-year-old spayed female Brittany Spaniel, orange and white in color. The dog was last seen wearing a blue collar, which displayed the owner's information.
