Police: Homer man drove toward teens on bikes

HOMER, N.Y. — A Cortland County man faces criminal charges after he steered his vehicle toward a group of teenagers who were riding bikes in the village of Homer Sunday night, according to the Homer Police Department.

According to police, 53-year-old Michael L. Leach, of Homer, was driving on Cayuga Street when he encountered three male teenagers who were riding their bikes.

Leach steered his car toward the group, got out of his vehicle and grabbed bikes away from two of the teens and threw them, damaging one of them, police said.

Leach has been charged with three misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of criminal mischief in connection with the incident.

He was released on appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear in Homer Town Court on Nov. 15.
