Emergency crews called to rollover crash in Virgil

Update: Driver pronounced dead at scene in Virgil crash

VIRGIL, N.Y. — Emergency crews are responding to what appears to be a serious car crash in the town of Virgil Monday night.

At around 6:45 p.m., the Cortland County 911 Center received a report of a one-car vehicle rollover crash at 2136 Kohne Rd, about halfway in between the town of Virgil and the town of Dryden.

Emergency radio reports indicated that the driver was pinned underneath the vehicle. Crews at the scene initially requested a helicopter to transport the injured driver, though the helicopter was later cancelled, according to an officer at the scene.

It's unclear if there were any other passengers in the vehicle

Both ends of Kohne Road have been closed off to motorists as crews continue to work on scene Monday night.

Members of the Virgil Fire Department, Dryden Fire Department, Cortlandville Fire Department, Cortland County Sheriff's Office and New York State Police have all responded to the crash.
