Update on Dec. 3, 2016 -- Police have said that the death of Newfield man found in his front yard early Friday morning has been ruled a homicide.
Camden Rundell, 30, was found by first responders about 100 feet from his front door at 221 Burdge Hill Road at 5:02 a.m. He was dead when officials arrived at the scene. The incident was initially reported as a cardiac arrest, but police said from the get-go that the death was being investigated as "suspicious."
The Tompkins County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that the homicide ruling came after an autopsy conducted Saturday.

NEWFIELD, N.Y. -- Police are investigating the "suspicious" death of a man in his 30s who was found early Friday morning about 100 feet from his home in Newfield.
Tompkins County Sheriff's Lt. Dan Donahue said police were called at 5:02 a.m. to a home at 221 Burdge Hill Road after a person called 911 to report that the man was suffering from a cardiac arrest. The man was already dead when first responders arrived.
"They're not sure exactly how the individual got into the front yard...we're treating it right now as suspicious...," Donahue said. "He doesn't have a jacket on and, ya know, it's just the nature for which we discovered him is suspicious. Like I said, he's not dressed for outdoor weather."
Police taped off the area around the home and yard with crime scene tape and could be seen collecting evidence from the yard into brown paper bags.

Officials spoke to a woman at the home when they arrived. Police are also questioning other people who may have been at the house at the time of the incident.
The cause of death was not known Friday morning, Donahue said. He also did not know if the man had any other injuries.
"To determine what the cause (of death) is going to take some time," he said.
Police have not released the victim's information.
Deputies, New York State Police troopers and evidence technicians were still on the scene as of 11:45 a.m.
