The Cortland Downtown Partnership is pleased to announce that through Round 6 of New York State’s Regional Economic Councils $620,000 in grants were awarded to advance three priority projects in Historic Downtown Cortland. The projects include development of two properties located at 55 and 38 Main Street into multi-use facilities and the continuation of the SKI Cortland marketing grant. The state support will be leveraged to add approximately $4.2 million in projects to Historic Downtown Cortland.

Ski 2 Cortland will continue to market Cortland New York’s winter outdoor recreational opportunities to bolster destination tourism. The additional funding awarded will assist the Cortland Downtown Partnership develop a winter festival/ski racing weekend that will kick off this year on Saturday February 11 th 2017 with the first day of a multi day multi discipline Master’s division ski race and enhanced Chill-A- Bration winter festival downtown. 38 Arts is a joint venture of the Cortland Downtown Partnership and Cortland Repertory Theatre to provide living and working space for artists working for or collaborating with the theatre. The project will take advantage of the additional elevator stops built into the Cortland Downtown Partnership’s external elevator at 40 Main Street to provide upperfloor access to dormitory style residential units at 38 Main Street along with adding another arts performance venue to Main Street. The project is a critical piece to allow CRT Downtown to continue to expand programming and will promote Cortland’s emerging upperfloor development into creative spaces and downtown living.

55 Main Street will complete the restoration that began last summer to the building at the corner of Main and Court Streets that was nearly lost after fire damage over a decade ago. The project will bring back a critical and highly visible multi-use resource to the County’s most highly foot trafficked intersection. The CDP, although not the grant recipient, provided technical assistance for the successful grant submission.
