Two Syracuse men accused of stealing from Cortland Walmart

CORTLAND, N.Y. — Two Syracuse residents were arrested last week after one of them allegedly tried to steal items from the Cortland Walmart while the other acted as the getaway driver.

At around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, sheriff's deputies responded to Walmart on Bennie Road for a complaint of a larceny.

They arrived to find the suspects had fled the parking lot in a vehicle, which was located a short distance away.

Tshibo Wa Ilunga, 43, and Anani Agbossoumonde, 29, both of Syracuse, were arrested in connection with the incident.

Wa Ilunga, having been previously served a no-trespass order by Walmart — was charged with third-degree burglary, a felony, and misdemeanor charges of conspiracy and criminal possession of stolen property, the sheriff's office said. He was taken to Cortland County Jail on $1,000 cash bail for the misdemeanor charges and $5,000 for the felony burglary charge.

Agbossoumonde was charged with misdemeanors of conspiracy and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and remanded to the county jail on $250 bail.

Both men were scheduled to appear in Cortlandville Town Court on Monday.
