CORTLAND, N.Y. – On Monday, January 16th, the YWCA Cortland will be hosting its annual Soup & Bread Lunch in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Serving will begin at 11:45 a.m. with presentation from 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. in the YWCA’s Multi-Purpose Room. The event is free and open to the public.

Join us for two powerful TED Talks followed by an interactive discussion led by Lima Stafford, Assistant Director of Multicultural Life & Diversity at SUNY Cortland. The two TED Talk will be:

"Color blind or color brave?" The subject of race can be very touchy. But as finance executive Mellody Hobson says, that's exactly why we need to start talking about it.

“How to raise a black son in America.” One night, a young Clint Smith was playing with water guns in a dark parking lot with his white friends. In a heartfelt piece, the poet paints the scene of his father's furious and fearful response.

YWCA Cortland is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.
