1 - Massive turbine wows locals

WATCH: Massive GE turbine shipment rolls through Cortland County — Hundreds gathered along Route 281 Saturday morning to watch a General Electric turbine shipment pass through the town of Homer. The turbine was being trucked from the GE plant in Schenectady to Berwick, Penn., using a combination of non-interstate roads in central New York.

2 - Firefighters from across the state compete in 'winter games'

Firefighter Winter Games returns to Cortland — The Cortland County Firemen’s Association and the Cortland Regional Sports Council hosted the 2017 Firemen’s Association of the State of New York (FASNY) Winter Games this past weekend. Cortland has served as the site for this event for twelve years as it draws fire departments and auxiliaries from across the state to Central New York for the two day competition.

3 - Court docs reveal motive behind gas station robbery

Cincinnatus man 'not sure why' he robbed Speedway gas station, court documents show — Unarmed and under the influence of a psychoactive drug, a Cortland County man walked into a gas station and decided — on the fly — that he was going to rob the place, according to court documents.

4 - Local cop receives award

Cortland County Sheriff's deputy recognized for 'act of heroism' in Homer fire — An officer with the Cortland County Sheriff's Office is being recognized for his efforts to save a man from a house fire in the village of Homer last year.

6 - College to celebrate Black History Month

SUNY Cortland to host Black History Month events — SUNY Cortland’s Africana Studies Department has put together a full calendar of Black History Month events spanning throughout February. They include panel presentations, guest lectures, Sandwich Seminar discussions and a music and dance performance to culminate the month-long celebration for the College and the community.

7 - Marathon crash leads to DWI charge

Marathon man charged with DWI after hit-and-run crash — A Cortland County man was arrested over the weekend following a hit-and-run crash in the town of Marathon. At around 4 p.m. Sunday, police responded to a Cortland County 911 report of a hit-and-run accident in the parking lot of Gregg's Market on Cortland Street in the town of Marathon.

8 - Gershwin musical to premiere at SUNY Cortland

Musical ‘Crazy For You’ opens at SUNY Cortland this month — Performed entirely by SUNY Cortland musical theatre students, the production will open at 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17. The remaining shows will run at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, Friday, Feb. 24 and Saturday, Feb. 25 with two matinee performances at 2 p.m. Feb. 19 and 26.

9 - Center for the Arts celebrates Chinese New Year

Celebrate the Chinese New Year at Center for the Arts — The celebration featured Chinese classic, folk and ethnic dances by Ms. Ling Wang and her students, traditional Chinese finger food, and exhibits of China, Chinese music and instruments and staging of martial arts and folk songs.

10 - Cortland business incubator project awarded $500,000 grant

Cortland business incubator project awarded $500,000 grant — Cortland Downtown Partnership will receive half a million dollars from a state grant to complete its work on the Cortland Business Innovation Center project. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Thursday that 75 projects across the state have been awarded funding as part of the state’s Restore New York Communities Initiative. The “Restore NY” grants are meant to support the redevelopment of blighted properties in local municipalities.
