Johnny Cash tribute show opens tonight at Cortland Repertory Theatre

Scott Moreau will appear at Cortland Repertory Theatre Downtown in “Walkin’ the Line: A Tribute to Johnny Cash” on February 10 & 11 (photo provided)

The Man in Black is back! On February 10 and 11, audiences are invited to take a trip back in time with Scott Moreau and his Died Drunk Boys in WALKIN’ THE LINE: A TRIBUTE TO JOHNNY CASH.  Performances begin at 7:30 both nights and tickets are $35.00 per person. A beer/wine cash bar will be available.

Moreau, sounding remarkably like the legendary singer, leads a journey through the music that made Johnny Cash the Man In Black.  With stories and anecdotes told in Johnny's own words, this amazing show features the songs The Ring Of Fire, Folsom Prison Blues, Walk The Line, Man In Black and many more.  If you close your eyes, you’ll swear you’re with man himself.  This original concert, created by Moreau himself, also features New York City based musicians: David Sonneborn on bass, Matthew Watson on drums and Jeremy Renner on guitar.  CRT audiences will remember Renner, who has previously appeared at CRT with Todd Meredith in his acoustic concert last fall, and in multiple concerts by The Rave-Ons.

Scott Moreau is originally from Litchfield, Maine and has been playing Johnny Cash for nearly a decade.  Walkin’ The Line has played to sold out crowds across the country and beyond including Quebec City, Phoenix and Las Vegas.  He played Johnny on the 1st National Tour of the Tony Award winning musical Million Dollar Quartet, performing from Maine to Tokyo and everywhere in between, including the upstate New York cities Binghamton, Elmira, Albany, Utica and Buffalo. CRT audiences may also recognize him as Young Jim Neary in the series finale of HBO's Emmy Award winning Boardwalk Empire or as the title character in Johnny Guitar the Musical in CRT’s 2008 summer season at the Little York Pavilion.  In 2013, he recorded his Johnny Cash tribute album Home Of The Blues at the legendary Sun Studio in Memphis, TN; the CD will be available for purchase in the lobby after the CRT performances.
