‘March for Tolerance’ planned in Cortland

Residents walk in peaceful protest as part of a vigil held in downtown Cortland in June 2016 for the victims of a mass shooting in Orlando, Florida (Peter Blanchard/Cortland Voice)

The following is a republished press release from the Cortland LGBTQ Center, the Cortland County Council of Churches and the Cortland Interfaith Association. It has been republished with permission.

WHAT: Co-sponsored by Cortland County Council of Churches, Cortland Interfaith Association, and Cortland LGBTQ Center – and open to all members of the public — this peaceful and positive candle-light march will celebrate diversity and tolerance in our community and nation. The event will include a candle-light march (candles provided) and comments from local religious and community leaders. The march’s primary objective is to encourage peace, hope, positivity, and above all tolerance. The march sponsors wish to emphasize the event is not “a protest against” – but a “march for.”

WHEN: Sunday, February 19 – from 4:00 to 5:30 pm

WHERE: The march will commence at The Cortland LGBTQ Center located at 73 Main Street, Cortland.
