Update: Richie Stetson, 15, was found safe Sunday afternoon, his mother confirmed.

ITHACA, N.Y. — State police confirmed Sunday afternoon that they have been looking for a missing 15-year-old boy since Friday night.

Samantha Spaulding said her son Richie Stetson was last seen at Ithaca High School Friday and reportedly did not miss any classes. She said she last saw him Friday morning when she left home to take her husband to work.

"I mean, he's a good kid and he's usually pretty smart when it comes to things," Spaulding said Sunday afternoon as she and family members passed out missing-person fliers at The Shops at Ithaca Mall.

She said that while her son is going through "typical teenage rebellion" he's never disappeared for days at a time.

Spaulding said her son's friends said they saw him at an apartment complex on Warren Road Friday night but allegedly hadn't seen him since then. She and police have not confirmed that he was at that location.

Stetson is about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs about 120 pounds. He has a small scar below the right side of his lip. Spaulding said he'll likely be wearing a baseball cap, black jacket and gray Etnies — skate shoes — with bright orange shoelaces and an orange 'E' on them.

She's asking anyone who sees him to call the police or contact her personally at 607-279-3242.
