Habitat for Humanity seeking applications for house in Homer

Habitat for Humanity of Tompkins and Cortland Counties (TCHFH) is looking for their next homebuyer family, for a home at 5 Meadow Drive in Homer. Now is the time to apply! The house is a 3-bedroom, 1-bathroom ranch, approximately 1,100 square feet.

To be eligible, a family must live, work, or have children in school in either Tompkins or Cortland County. In addition, the family’s income must be below 60% of the county median for your household size (i.e. gross annual income of $37,020 for a family of four in Cortland County), and be able to pay an affordable monthly mortgage payment (most Habitat homeowners pay between $650-$850 per month, depending on household income).

TCHFH will hold an information session on Thursday March 30th at 7pm at the Homer Congregational Church (28 South main Street Homer). In addition, please find more information or complete the pre-application on the website: www.tchabitat.com Contact Liz at [email protected] or call (607) 844-3529 with questions. Applications will be accepted until a qualified homebuyer is selected.

Homebuyer families must have a need for adequate shelter, the ability to pay a modest mortgage, and a willingness to partner with Habitat. All partner families contribute hours of “sweat equity”, working on construction of their own and others’ Habitat homes, helping with other Habitat projects, and taking financial and homeownership education classes.

If you, or a family you know, are ready to consider homeownership, consider partnering with Habitat for Humanity! TCHFH is an equal housing lender.
