CORTLAND, N.Y. -- A tornado watch is in effect for 29 counties in New York State and parts of northeastern Pennsylvania, according to The National Weather Service.
The watch is in effect in Cortland County -- as well as neighboring Tompkins, Cayuga and Onondaga counties -- until 10 p.m. this evening.
A cold front is expected to arrive this afternoon and evening, bringing thunderstorms and the potential for heavy rainfall and, later, minor flooding, according to the NWS in Binghamton.

The main weather threat this evening will likely be damaging winds, though isolated tornadoes are also possible.
