Narrative: Officers from the Cortland County Sheriff's Office stopped a vehicle being operated by 54-year-old David Desimone for speeding and failing to keep right while traveling on Tompkins Street in the City of Cortland. Desimone was found to be in an intoxicated condition. He was processed, later released, and is due back in city court on June 23 at 9:30 a.m.

Homeless man charged with drug, weapons possession

Narrative: Officers from the Cortland County Sheriff's Office Road Patrol Division responded to a report of a suspicious person who was going through a dumpster located at a business in the Polkville area. Officers arrived in the Polkville area to find a subject matching the given description. Hough was found to be in possession of a small amount of methamphetamine and a gravity knife, authorities said. It was later discovered that due to Hough's criminal history, it was illegal for him to possess a gravity knife. Hough was arraigned in Cortlandbille Town Court and bail was set at $5,000 cash or $10,000 insurance bond. He is scheduled to appear in court June 5 at 11 a.m.

Ithaca man charged with DWI after "repeatedly flashing high beam lights"

Narrative: At about 1:19 a.m., an officer from the Cortland County Sheriff's Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic infraction that occurred on Route 13 in the town of Virgil. The operator of the vehicle was traveling northbound on Route 13 and repeatedly flashed the vehicle's high beam and low beam headlamps while approaching a marked sheriff's car as the two vehicles approached each other from opposite directions. The officer determined that the operator of the vehicle was intoxicated. The defendant was arrested and transported to the Public Safety Building for processing. He was arraigned in Virgil Town Court and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to reappear in court on June 6 at 5:30 p.m.
