SUNY Cortland's Dave Foster named USILA Men's Lacrosse Scholar All-American

SUNY Cortland senior men's lacrosse defender Dave Foster (Farmingville/Sachem East) has been chosen to the 2017 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division III Scholar All-America Team.

The USILA Scholar All-America Program was established in 1989 to recognize student-athletes from USILA member institutions who have distinguished themselves academically, athletically and as citizens of their communities. A Scholar All-American must be nominated by his coach and be a student with a senior year academic standing and a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (4.0 scale). To be eligible, the recipient must also be an All-American, a member of a North/South team, or an outstanding league or conference player.

A business economics major, Foster wrapped up the spring semester with an overall 3.72 GPA (converted to 3.68 for the 4.0 scale). An honorable mention USILA All-American and a first team All-SUNYAC player for the third straight season, Foster started in all 20 of Cortland's games and recorded a goal, four assists, 48 ground balls and 28 caused turnovers. He led the team in caused turnovers, ranked second in ground balls, and earned a spot on the SUNYAC all-tournament team for the third consecutive year.

Cortland finished the season 17-3 and earned its 17th straight NCAA Division III tournament berth. The Red Dragons advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals and tied for fifth nationally.
