Editor's Note: The following information comes form the League of Women Voters of Cortland County.
This year, there are nine local elections where multiple people are seeking the Democratic or Republican Party nomination. The contested seats include Cortland County Judge, City of Cortland Mayor, County Legislature (6 seats), and City of Cortland Common Council (1 seat).
On September 12, registered Republican and Democratic voters will decide which candidate represents them in the November General Election.
To enable voters to hear candidates and question them about important issues in the September 12 primary election, the League of Women Voters of Cortland County is sponsoring “Meet the Candidates” forums on Saturday August 26 (County Legislature) and Saturday September 9 (County Judge, City Mayor, City Common Council).
We are asking candidates to accept our guidelines and reply with their availability by August 19, 2017.
Stay tuned for more information.
