Cortland man charged in burglary of A&W Restaurant

Chad Henry

CORTLANDVILLE, N.Y. - State police have arrested a Cortland man in connection with the theft of thousands of dollars from an ATM machine that reportedly occurred inside the A&W Restaurant earlier this month.

The arrest of 27-year-old Chad Henry followed a weeks-long investigation into the Aug. 6 incident.

An investigation determined that Henry had forced entry to the business after hours and stole more than $2,500 from the ATM machine, police said.

Henry was able to gain access to the machine by prying it open with tools and damaging it, authorities said.

Henry was charged with felony third-degree burglary and taken to the Cortland County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $3,000 property bond. His next court date is Aug. 28.
