Police investigating fatal tractor trailer crash in Tully

TULLY, N.Y. - A New Jersey woman was killed while driving a tractor trailer on Interstate 81 Thursday morning, according to New York State Police.

At around 7:15 a.m. Thursday, troopers responded to I-81 south, about 1 mile north of Exit 14 in Tully, after the Onondaga County 911 Center received a call regarding heavy damage to the guard rail in the area.

When troopers arrived, they observed damage to the guard rail and located a tractor trailer overturned approximately 40 to 50 yards down an embankment.

The driver was found trapped underneath the cab of the truck and was pronounced dead at the scene. She was later identified as Patricia S. Rodgers, 48, from Burlington, New Jersey.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the official cause of death, police said.

The investigation is continuing.
