Narrative: The Cortland County Sheriff's Office was asked to investigate a report of missing personal checks from a family residence on East Homer Road in the town of Homer over a month-long period. An investigation revealed that the two suspects, who were living at the residence at the time of the theft, had taken several checks and cashed them throughout Cortland and Onondaga counties, according to the sheriff's office. The cashed checks totaled over $3,000. The suspects were arrested without incident by the DeWitt Police Department at a hotel in East Syracuse. The investigation is continuing and additional charges are possible, authorities said.

Authorities arrest man wanted on Texas warrant

Narrative: On Monday, officers from the Cortland County Sheriff's Office responded to a disturbance at 354 Route 38 in the town of Harford. Officers interviewed Bobby Workman, who provided them with false identification and information, in an attempt to hide the fact he was wanted out of the state of Texas on a parole warrant. Workman was arraigned in Harford Town Court and taken to Cortland County Jail on $2,000 cash bail or $4,000 bond. He is due back in Harford Town Court on Sep. 6.

Cortland man charged with felony DWI

Narrative: At around 3:44 a.m. Monday, officers from the Cortland County Sheriff's Office stopped a vehicle being operated by 37-year-old Jason Nunez for inadequate lights and unapproved stickers on Route 13 in the Town of Cortlandville. Upon further investigation, Mr. Nunez was found to be intoxicated. He was arrested for driving while intoxicated, processed, and later released to a third party.
