Wanted Cortland woman charged with shoplifting at Walmart

Narrative: On Friday, Aug. 25, a state trooper responded to a report of a shoplifting that occurred at the Walmart on Bennie Road in Cortlandville. Store security officers observed O'Neil placing about $44.00 worth of store merchandise into her purse and leaving without paying for it, police said. An investigation also determined that she was wanted on an arrest warrant for unlawfully possessing a hypodermic syringe in the city of Cortland. She was issued a ticket and turned over to city police on her outstanding arrest warrant.

Narrative: On Sunday, Aug. 27, officers from the Cortland County Sheriff's Office responded to Walmart for a larceny. The pair is accused of pushing a shopping cart loaded with merchandise and alcohol, valued at over $400.00, out of the store. Both were taken into custody, processed, and later released on appearance tickets. They are due back in Cortlandville Town Court next month.
