Bridge worker rescued from underneath Interstate 81 in Cortland

CORTLAND, N.Y. - Cortland and Homer firefighters performed a rescue from an elevated platform Thursday morning on Interstate 81 in Cortland.

At around 10:10 a.m., the Homer Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a bridge worker who was unconscious on a platform over the highway.

Additional crews were called from the Homer Fire Department and the City of Cortland Fire Department's Technical Resource Team.

The unconscious man was extricated from the platform and TLC Ambulance transported the man to Cortland Regional Medical Center, according to a Facebook post from the Homer Fire Department. The condition of the patient is unknown at this time.

The Homer Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Cortland Fire Department, TLC Ambulance, the Homer Police Department, and New York State Police.
