It's Election Day in Cortland County: Here's what you need to know

Today is New York State's Primary Election, and there a number of local candidates running for office in Cortland County.

Polls are open from noon to 9 p.m. Keep in mind that only registered voters of a political party are allowed to vote today.

Here's a look at the local races:

County Judge

Keith Dayton and David Alexander are each vying for the Republican, Conservative, Independence, and Reform Party lines.

Mayor of Cortland

Mayor Brian Tobin faces a challenge from Angela Wilde, a local activist, who is seeking the Democratic nomination.

City of Cortland - Ward 7

Linda Ferguson, a former member of Cortland Common Council, is looking to reclaim her position as the 7th ward representative. She and Troy Beckwith are seeking the Democratic ballot line in today's election. The winner will face Republican Adam MeGivern in the general election in November.

Cortlandville Town Justice

With Judge David Alexander's term set to expire, two candidates are looking to fill his seat. Cortland County Assistant District Attorney Robert DeMarco, a Republican, and local attorney Lenore LeFevre, a Democrat, are seeking the Independence Party line today.

County Legislature

Five seats are up for grabs:
