Police investigating fatal tractor trailer crash in Tully

TULLY, N.Y. - State police are continuing to investigate a crash that occurred just north of the Cortland County line last week.

The crash occurred at around 8 p.m. Thursday on Route 281, south of Route 80, in the town of Tully, when a tractor-trailer collided with a passenger car, according to New York State Police.

The driver of the truck, 51-year-old Chris J. Beckwith, was traveling southbound on Route 281 when a 2006 Subaru passenger car entered the roadway from a parking lot on the west side of the road.

Beckwith collided with Wayne V. Mosher, 54, of Tully, the driver of the Subaru, causing both vehicles to exit the east side of the roadway, state police said.

Mosher was pronounced dead at the scene. State police said in a news release that Beckwith was unable to avoid a collision with Mosher's vehicle.

Police say they are continuing their investigation.
