Sophomore women's golfer Danielle Bambola (Miller Place) and sophomore men's cross country runner Nolan Vest (Coram/Longwood) have been named the SUNY Cortland Athletes of the Week for the week ending Oct. 1.
Nolan finished 20th out of 283 runners in the White Division of the Lehigh University Paul Short Run. He covered the 8,000-meter campus layout in 26 minutes, 29 seconds. Cortland finished in third place out of 36 schools in the final team standings.
Danielle was the tournament medalist in a field of 51 golfers at the Cortland Martin/Wallace Invitational at the Cortland Country Club. She recorded a 74 Saturday and a 77 Sunday for a 151 total to win by two strokes and help the Red Dragons place second as a team. Bambola registered 26 pars and two birdies over 36 holes.
