10 popular Halloween costume ideas for boys and girls

It's that time of year again. If your child hasn't decided what they want to be for Halloween, it's not too late to find the best costume! Here are some of the top selling costume categories for boys and girls.

1. Rey from Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Star Wars has always been a popular franchise. Rey was introduced in Star Wars: The Force Awakens which released in 2015. The character of Rey has stayed relevant in pop culture in part thanks to Star Wars being such a popular franchise, and because of the animated mini-series Star Wars Forces of Destiny.

2. Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman premiered this past summer and was a huge box office success. The character of Wonder Woman is someone who girls can look up to. It would make sense, then, that girls would want to dress as Wonder Woman for Halloween, making her costume a top seller.

Descendants premiered on Disney Channel in the summer of 2015. It was a hit, and the sequel, Descendants 2, premiered on Disney Channel this past July. The basic idea is four children of Disney villains are invited to attend a school with the children of other Disney characters. Mal and Evie (pictured above) are the two female leads of the franchise. Mal is the daughter of Maleficent and Evie the daughter of the Evil Queen from Snow White.

The Flash has always been a popular superhero. The Flash is the TV show currently in its fourth season that is based on the comic books of the same name.

Master Chief is the protagonist of the Halo video game series. The games in the Halo series are first-person shooter style games and are of science-fiction genre. Halo 5: Guardians released in 2015, was the last game Master Chief has appeared in. He has made appearances in other popular culture though.

Although Ghostbusters was originally released in 1984, it is still a very well-known and popular movie. While the 2016 reboot film wasn’t as successful, it did bring the franchise back to the center of the pop culture stage.
