Homer man to compete in 'Jeopardy!' Tournament of Champions

CULVER CITY, C.A. - Fifteen past Jeopardy! champions, including a local high school teacher from Homer, will compete in a special two-week competition hosted by the popular television quiz show.

The Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions presented by Consumer Cellular kicks off Monday, Nov. 6, and features 15 champions from the past two seasons that will face off over the course of the 10-day event.

The contestant field for the tournament consists of 11 players who won the most games since the last Tournament of Champions was held in November 2015. The final four spots will be filled by the two most recent Teachers Tournament and College Championship winners.

The first-prize winner will receive $250,000, second place claims $100,000, and third place will go home with $50,000. The event concludes with a two-day final airing on Thurs., Nov. 16, and Friday, Nov. 17.

Justin Vossler, of Homer, made his debut on the game show in July. He placed first in five straight episodes, taking home $110,000 in earnings. Originally from Wellsville, N.Y., Vossler has been teaching at Moravia High School for the past six years.

All episodes, including tonight's debut, will air on WSYT Fox Syracuse, Channel 68, weekdays at 7:30 p.m.
