Cops: Willet man wielded firearm near family's home

WILLET, N.Y. - A man was arrested Sunday afternoon after Cortland County sheriff's deputies were called to a domestic incident in the town of Willet.

At around 1:25 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to the home on Lower Cincinnatus Road. They arrived to find 31-year-old Justin A. Granata arguing with family members at the residence.

Family members told officers that Granata used a firearm to fire two shots into the ground while just outside the home.

There were children in the house at the time of the incident, though no one was injured, the sheriff's office said.

Granata was taken into custody without resistance. He faces felony charges of reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon, and misdemeanor charges of menacing, endangering the welfare of a child, and other charges.

He was taken to Cortland County Jail on $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.
