Sophomore women's swimmer Kelly Davey (Plattsburgh) and senior men's basketball guard James Morales (Mount Kisco/Fox Lane) have been named the SUNY Cortland Athletes of the Week for the week ending Nov. 19.
James Morales
James averaged 20.5 points and four assists per game as Cortland opened the season with two home victories. He shot 68 percent (17-of-25) from the floor overall (57 percent from 3-point range). Morales scored 28 points, including nine in the final four and a half minutes, in a 70-66 win over Ithaca, followed by 13 points (5-of-6 shooting) and six assists in a 93-54 win versus Canton.
Kelly Davey
Kelly won two individual events and swam on two winning relays during Cortland's 185-91 dual-meet win at Buffalo State. She won the 50-yard freestyle in 26.10 seconds and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:31.69. Davey swam a 100-yard freestyle leg in 55.81 seconds on Cortland's winning 400-yard medley relay (4:15.66), and she recorded a 50-yard freestyle leg of 25.37 seconds on the 200-yard freestyle relay that won as an exhibition entry (1:45.93).
