HOMER, N.Y. - A Homer woman was driving while intoxicated when she crashed on Route 281 in Cortlandville early Sunday morning, the Cortland County Sheriff's Office said.

At around 1:11 a.m., officers responded to a report of a one-car crash on Route 281 near the intersection of Hillside Drive in Cortlandville.

Danielle Chase, 32, was driving a 2017 Acura north on Route 281 when she lost control of her vehicle and slid off the roadway, damaging a mailbox and sheering off a utility pole, authorities said.

Route 281 was closed for several hours as emergency and power company crews tended to downed power lines and replaced the utility pole. The sheriff's office could not confirm if the crash resulted in any power outages for nearby homes.

Chase was not injured in the crash. The sheriff's office charged her with misdemeanors of driving while intoxicated and driving with a B.A.C. above .08 percent. She was also charged with traffic violations for driving at an unreasonable speed and driving across hazard markings.

She is scheduled to appear in Cortlandville Town Court on Jan. 29.
