Winter weather advisory in effect; 3-5 inches of snow expected

CORTLAND, N.Y. - Drivers in central New York are being advised to be cautious during the Tuesday evening commute.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory that will remain in effect for Cortland County until 5 a.m. Wednesday.

Total snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches are expected, with amounts up to 6 inches possible in higher terrains, forecasters said.

This could lead to slippery road conditions, especially during the Tuesday evening commute. Drivers should be prepared for reduced visibility at times.

The advisory is in effect for northern Pennsylvania and six other counties in central New York.
