Police look to identify suspect in theft at Cortland Walmart

CORTLANDVILLE, N.Y. - State police in Homer are investigating a theft that occurred at the Walmart on Bennie Road in Cortlandville.

At around 1 p.m. Tuesday, an unknown suspect attempted to steal about $250 worth of electronics. He left the store without paying and was stopped by two asset protection employees in the parking lot who recovered the stolen property from him, police said.

The suspect is described as a white male who was wearing a two-toned colored brown jacket with a zipper and hood, and blue jeans.

Before he could be identified, the man drove away in an older, dark-colored hatchback car that had a loud exhaust, according to state police. He was last seen traveling northbound on Route 13.
