Cortland women's lacrosse ranked in preseason national polls

The SUNY Cortland women's lacrosse team is ranked 16th nationally in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) preseason Division III poll. The Red Dragons also are ranked 19th in the Nike/USLacrosse Magazine preseason Division III poll.

Fourth-year head coach Kelly Lickert-Orr has led Cortland to an impressive 57-5 (.891) combined record over her first three seasons. The Red Dragons finished with a 14-5 mark last season and earned its 19th consecutive State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) title. Additionally, Cortland tied for 17th nationally in the NCAA playoffs and collected one All-America award.

In 2015, Cortland won the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse national championship. The Red Dragons have made 21 NCAA tournament appearances, including each of the last 19 years. Cortland has also advanced to the national "final four" six times in the last seven seasons.

Cortland opens the season with a home game against Clarkson on March 3 at 1 p.m. The Red Dragons will face five preseason ranked teams, including home dates with #7/4 Franklin & Marshall, #11/17 Ithaca, and #15/15 Brockport. Cortland also will play at #18/16 St. John Fisher and in a neutral site game versus #14/11 Catholic.
