Jamesville-Dewitt defeats Cortland boys' basketball, 62-36

Cortland N.Y.- On Cortland’s senior night, Jamesville-Dewitt beat the Tigers to improve to 8-3, while the Tigers fall to 5-7 in conference play.

Payton Shumpert had 19 points for the Rams, while his teammate Marcus Johnson had 10 points.  For the Tigers, Ricky Young did most of the scoring. He had 13 points while John Blanchard had 7. Izeah Williams had 6 points as well.

After jumping out to a 9-0 lead, the Tigers closed the gap to 16-14 to end the first quarter. The Rams would hold the Tigers to two points in the 2nd quarter to take a 31-16 lead into halftime.

The Rams would hold Cortland to six points in the third, setting up a final score of 62-34. Turnovers were the downfall for Cortland, which allowed the Rams to break away from the Tigers.

Next up for Cortland, they play at Oswego Feb. 6; at PSLA at Fowler Feb. 9, and at Homer Feb. 12.
