Travel advisory issued for Cortland County

CORTLAND, N.Y. - Cortland County Sheriff Mark Helms has issued a travel advisory for Cortland County through 10 p.m. Wednesday.

"At the present time all county roads are snow-covered, very slippery along with blowing snow and poor visibility are causing hazardous conditions," Sheriff Helms said in a media release Wednesday morning.

For those who do have to travel, the sheriff's office recommends taking extra time to clean off their vehicle.

The National Weather Service recommends keeping an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

All school districts in Cortland County are closed today.

A winter storm warning remains in effect until 10 p.m. The Cortland area is expected to receive around 8 inches of snow during this time.
