Coleman's solo homer gave Cortland a 1-0 lead in the top of the fifth. The Generals answered with a Crane double and Volpicelli RBI single in the bottom of the inning to tie the game, and they took the lead in the sixth on Feeley's leadoff homer.

Cortland responded with six runs in the top of the seventh to take a 7-2 lead. Personius started the inning with a double, moved to third on an error and scored on a Coleman RBI single. Billy Kozak (Sidney) followed with an RBI infield single to put the Red Dragons on top. A passed ball moved runners to second and third, but W&L got the next two hitters out. Colin BeVard (Syracuse/West Genesee), however, hit a two-run single up the middle, and Cortland added two more runs on a Garrett Heaton (East Patchogue/Bellport) RBI single and Patrick Schetter (Beacon) RBI double.

The Red Dragons extended the lead with two in the eight, including a Coleman RBI double, and two in the ninth on James Varian's (Hopewell Junction/Trinity-Pawling) pinch-hit, two-run double. W&L scored its final two runs in the ninth on a Volpicelli two-run single.

Cortland had just taken a 5-4 lead with three runs in the top of the fifth of the scheduled seven-inning game, and was still batting when play was stopped by rain. There is no official team result for either side, and the statistics do not count.
