Travel advisory issued for Cortland County

CORTLAND, N.Y. — Cortland County Sheriff Mark E. Helms has issued a travel advisory for Cortland County until 7 p.m. Friday, warning that hazardous weather will make travel difficult.

The advisory, however, does not restrict travel.

According to the National Weather Service, a very complex potentially high impact winter storm will impact the area starting Friday. Heavy snow amounts along with strong, gusty winds are forecast.

Cortland is predicted to get between 12-18 inches of snow through Saturday morning. All school districts in Cortland County will be closed on Friday. SUNY Cortland also announced it would cancel Friday classes for all students.
