Marathon man charged with rape

CORTLAND, N.Y. — A Cortland County man has been charged with rape and endangering the welfare of a child, New York State Police said Friday.

At around 6:10 p.m. Wednesday, police arrested Matthew J. Price, 30, of Marathon, and charged him with second-degree rape, a felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

An investigation by troopers led to an arrest after a child under the age of 15 told a relative that Price was subjecting her to sexual contact.

Price was taken to the Cortland County Jail. He is scheduled to appear in Marathon Town Court March 14.
