Man charged in burglaries of two Cortland County homes

CORTLAND, N.Y. — An Onondaga County man has been arrested in connection with two burglaries that were reported in the town of Taylor earlier this year.

On Wednesday, 25-year-old Dylan S. Platt, of Lafayette, turned himself in to authorities at the Cortland County Sheriff's Office, according to Lt. Todd Caufield.

Authorities allege that Platt forcefully entered into two separate residences on Union Valley Road in the town of Taylor and stole several items totaling more than $5,000. There was no one present at the homes at the time of the incidents.

Platt faces eight felony charges, including two counts of burglary, two counts of criminal mischief, two counts of grand larceny, and one count of conspiracy.

He was arraigned in Taylor Town Court and taken to the Cortland County Jail on $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.

His next court date is set for July 18.
