CORTLAND, N.Y. — Multiple law enforcement agencies are stationed outside a Cortland Hotel Friday morning in what is being called a standoff situation.

According to police, a man and woman locked themselves in a hotel room at the Hampton Inn on River Street. They are refusing to turn themselves in.

New York State Police, the City of Cortland Police Department, and the Cortland County Sheriff's Office are at the scene attempting to resolve the situation.

Authorities have blocked off River Street between Clinton Avenue and Clinton Street.

Cortland County Sheriff Mark Helms told reporters Friday morning that the suspect violated his parole, leading to a police pursuit that began in Broome County Friday morning, CNYCentral reported.

The chase ended in the parking lot of the Hampton Inn with the suspect getting out of the car and going inside the hotel. The building was then quickly evacuated.
